I'd like to be convinced, but what I saw from darthmod is not really an arcadish version of NTW but something way more realistic (less death by guns depending on distance, as a lot of shots miss), etc.

I know darthmode has custom sounds (way better than vanilla), smoke effects (seems better than NTW3 ?), AI seems pretty smart (I just looked up a couple of youtube videos of NTW3 battles where AI seems to do awkward things ?), and fire by rank seems more realistic than no fire by rank (am I right there ? I'm not a pro of this period of history). Could you give me a little bit more of details ? NTW3 has a campaign that is better than most of mods, but it is still being worked on.
#Napoleon total war mods close to vanilla mod#
It has two types of multiplayer mods (classic NTW3 and regimental mode). The aim of this project ultimatelly is to create a good and universal Ai that you dont need a huge mod to use and that can be compatible with other minor mods such as unit packs and minor tweeks while keeping the game almost completelly vanilla in every respect other than the ai. to load into it all the data from every Vanilla PackFile of the game. It focuses on Historical battles and Multiplayer battles. Rusted PackFile Manager, or RPFM, a modding tool for modern Total War Games. So things play out a bit differently, they have custom uniforms, custom sounds, custom units.

NTW3 is of course much more interested in getting it right to history, or at least the feel of it. (fire by rank, loose formations, high kill rates etc, etc.) Darthmod also doesn't have any custom skins, or as many units. Also, Darthmode seemed pretty realistic for me.ĭarthmode hasn't been worked on in like 5 years, NTW3 has been constantly in development, with it's last update in november.ĭarthmode is a bit too close to the vanilla, and offers a slightly arcader version of NTW.
